P. Mauriat PMXA-67R Professional Series Alto Saxophone (Cognac Lacquer)
Within this one horn resides the best of the concept Vintage Modern. Vintage in design, appearance, and sound. Modern in facility, craftsmanship, and quality.
There are many excellent horns available on the market today but P. Mauriat's 66 tenor and 67 alto rolled tone hole saxophones, 10 years after their first release, are still regarded as a unique instrument by many horn enthusiasts.
As the name implies, the special feature of these horns are their structurally integrated, unitary rolled tone holes - which means they are not created by soft soldering a separate metal ring onto the body. Their proprietary manufacturing method allows them to use the material from the body itself to roll the tone hole edges out, creating a one-piece unitary body that has not received unnecessary heat treatment and therefore no potential drawbacks associated with solder-joined components. This results in superior resonance throughout the entire saxophone and increased response in all ranges. The resulting tone is one that is free and resonant, uninterrupted by extra work done on other rolled tone hole saxophones.
This model also features an enlarged bell to complement the already warm, fat sound.
